All Hail King Spanky!!! Over $40,000 Raised for the Kids!!!

That…was…AWESOME!!! You all helped to raise over $40,000 to help sick kids get well, after all donations were present and accounted for…Thank you and GREAT job to everyone! PayPal and checks are still being accepted if any donors out there didn’t get their money in in time for the Bash.

Last Thursday’s ‘Stache Bash was incredible!!! All our ‘Staches were in rare form, and the throngs of supporters who came out lent their very vocal support to our not-so-shy ‘Staches all night long. In the end only one ‘Stache could triumph, however…and this year it was once again Spanky M. (AKA Napoleon Dynamite’s brother Kip, on the left in this picture, with Uncle Rico AKA ‘Stache AJ B.) who also won our inaugural Sweetest ‘Stache competition back in 2006! Spanky also raised over $4,250 for Children’s National Medical Center!!!

 But the Awards didn’t stop there…oh no.

Who beat Spanky, for Most Fundraisingest ‘Stache you ask? None other than our illustrious, and now speechless (’Stache-less?) Emcee Jacques A.!!! Jacques brought in over $4,500 for Children’s!!! That smug look comes only from the ‘Stachifaction of having bested all your competitors…Way to go Jacques!!!  

After much debate, and even a dance off to settle it, ‘Stache Phil M. walked out with the Creepiest ‘Stache award for his portrayal of an FBI sketch artist’s interpretation of what Ted Kaczynski would have looked like if he had had a beard trimmer up in that cabin in Montana…We don’t think Phil’s gotten out of character yet.

2009 also saw the debut of a new award…Most Voluptuous ‘Stache, which most deservedly went to ‘Stache Alex B. for his protrayal of a Russian tarot card reader and fortune teller…where are those crystal balls again Alex? Oh right…right…

A good time had by all. And we would especially like to thank our first ever sponsor, The Art of Shaving, and their rockin’ General Manager, Enrique!!! Thanks for keeping our non-’Stached faces looking good all season, Enrique!!!

What else can we say? Thanks to everyone who made this yet-again record setting Growing Season a reality. See you again in 2010 for year 5 of Mustaches for Kids in the District, and year 5 of helping Kids get well!!!
